Küçük Erenköy Tünel Trail

Şinya Guest House (1) – Junction (9)

Starting point is the parking lot (1) near Şinya Guest House. The trailgate is located at the corner of the parking lot. From the trailgate, go back onto the main road (2) and turn L to walk along the main road until the asphalt street by the big house (3) near a housing area. Turn L on the asphalt street and continue towards the mountains on a gentle slope up. To the left, there is a semi-natural landscape with pleasant carob trees, to the right, there are square villas on paved-over land. After passing the villas, arrive at the beginning of the dirt track (4). Follow this clear dirt track climbing on the foothills directly to the mountains. Pass by a junction (5) on this fairly straight dirt track, after the next junction (6) curve R. Turn L at the junction (7). There are yellow paintmarks on some trees. Curve R on a moderate slope up. Pass by a huge cleared area supposedly serving as a firebreak (8). The firebreak continues along the right side of the dirt track and there is a lush green ravine to the left. After a sharp left curve in the dirt track, look for the beginning of the narrow path. There are steps carved into the side bank of the track indicating the beginning of the narrow path. Use the steps (9)to go up, abandoning the dirt track.About 20 meters to the right from the dirt track there are several steps made of wooden logs.

Steps (9) – Tunnel (14)

The trail follows this conspicuous narrow path through the woods. Arrive at the narrow passage (10) in the rock and turn L to walk by a cliff and then follow the well-travelled path leading into the wooded hillsides. Pass a big fallen tree (11) across the trail and walk on through the pine forest for a while. At the top of the ridge (12) turn L and then R down a steep hillside. Following the path, walk down (13) to the bottom of a ravine and find the enterance (14) of the tunnel. The natural tunnel is about 70 meters and easy to walk through even without a flashlight.

Tunnel (14) – Şinya Guest House (1)

Exit at the other end (15) of the tunnel and use the trail following the water course and then up on the right bank to get out of the ravine. Arrive at the dirt track (16) and turn L on a moderate slope down to find the next junction (17). Turn L again and at the next junction (18) turn R. Pass by another junction (19). Follow the dirt track all the way down to the housing complex by the main road (20). Turn L and walk on the narrow path parallel to the mainroad (not on the asphalt but behind the metal barriers) to go back to the starting point in the parking lot (1).
